About
On the Rise Development
Workplaces have the power to build people up — or wear them down.
After years of witnessing both, On the Rise Development was born out of a commitment to tip the scales toward something better.
We work with leaders and organizations who are ready to be honest about where they are and courageous enough to rise to where they could be. From navigating workplace bullying to cultivating cultures of trust and belonging, our courses, assessments, and resources meet organizations wherever they are on that journey.
This work is personal. And it matters. Because the culture you build today shapes the people — and the organization — you become tomorrow.
On the Rise Development. Elevate your people. Transform your culture.

My name is Alexa Young
Dawn Johnson is an author, speaker, educator, and the founder of On the Rise Development — and she's spent nearly two decades doing one thing exceptionally well: helping people and organizations rise.
Through On the Rise Development, Dawn delivers keynotes, professional development courses, and 360 leadership assessments that tackle the topics organizations can't afford to ignore — trust, culture, conflict, employee experience, and the damaging impact of toxic workplace behaviors. Her approach is always grounded, always human, and always focused on real, lasting change.
Her book, Outwit the Workplace Bully: 8 Steps You Need to Know to Reclaim Your Career, Confidence, and Sanity, published in January 2022, earned the American Bookfest Finalist Award and positioned Dawn as a leading voice on workplace bullying. She has been featured as an expert in Woman's World Magazine and continues to be a go-to resource for individuals and organizations navigating toxic workplace dynamics.
In addition to her work with On the Rise Development, Dawn serves as an Assistant Professor and Program Director for the MBA in Leadership and Change at The College of St. Scholastica. She holds a BA in Psychology, an MBA, and a Master of Arts in Management — all from St. Scholastica.
Dawn's work is rooted in a belief that healthy, thriving workplaces are not just possible — they're within reach. Everything she does points back to a single, unwavering mission: elevate your people, transform your culture.
